Sleepless Nights For Stranraer Academy Girls

There were sleepless nights for some girls at Stranraer Academy last week as the Realcare Baby programme continued with eight 5th year girls taking part.

The girls all completed and intensive two week programme covering topics including contraception, budgeting, labour and delivery too name only a few.

After completing the theory part of the programme the students then took their “babies” home for the weekend to see what life would be like with a baby.

Most of the girls did enjoy the experience but were really tired after three nights of broken sleep and quite happy to hand the babies back over on Monday morning! We would like to say big thank you to the girls for their commitment to the programme and to the whole team who delivered sessions and supported the girls over the two week period.

This is the last time we will be doing the programme with 5th years and hope to begin a programme with 3rd year students in May.
