BABYCARE PROGRAMME JUNE 2006

Sleepless Nights for Academy Girls

There were a few sleepless nights for some 3rd year girls at Stranraer Academy last weekend as the realcare baby programme ended with the “parenting weekend”. After 2 weeks of classes on topics such as contraception, budgeting, labour & delivery the girls then faced the unenviable task of taking the “babies” home for the weekend. The babies are programmed to behave just like a newborn baby and require to be cared for by their “new parent” whenever they cry.

The girls all did brilliantly and a few even ventured out to “fun days” and to the shops where the babies proved to be quite a talking point!

A big thank you goes to the whole team for helping make the programme so successful and of course to the girls for taking part.
