The Youth Issues Unit
Are you a young person, aged between 12 & 25, and want to get involved in something a bit different?
The Youth Issues Unit provides opportunities for local young people to voice their opinions, to speak up about their issues, and to get involved in projects that actually get something done to improve services for young people.
Here are some of the projects you can get involved in:
YSEG (Youth Strategy Executive Group) – Meet with young people from across the region to express and share views and ideas. The YSEG is about ‘getting things done’, and acts as a collective Youth Voice for the region. It also involves meeting with and challenging Councillors about issues that affect YOU!
Youthbank Assessors – We need young people to assess Youthbank funding applications from youth projects in the area. You get to do site visits, and meet the young people involved. YOU make the final decisions on funding these projects!!
Young People’s Vision – Help to develop our Young People’s Vision for Dumfries and Galloway. Meetings take place monthly and involve working on The Vision action plan to tackle and improve issues for young people across the region.
Inspector8 – Get the chance to become an Inspector and check out and improve services for young people. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be an inspector and have good ideas about how to improve services (such as Leisure & Sport, libraries, Health centres etc) for young people then make sure you sign up!
Young people’s meetings – Take place once a month, where all young people from across Dumfries and Galloway get together to review progress with projects they are involved in, to raise and discuss issues and also just to HAVE FUN!
Scottish Youth Parliament – Elections for Dumfries & Galloway’s members of the Scottish Youth Parliament are taking place in November this year. Go to D&G local pages of the Young Scot website: www.youngscot.org for more information!
