The Hut - Newton Stewart

The Hut is a friendly place for any young person to come into for information, a nosey or just a chat.

We have many different groups running from our building and if you can think of something we could provide please don't hesitate to contact Josey at the Newton Stewart Youth Project, Off Church Street, Newton Stewart, DG8 6ER.

List of on-going groups

YOUTH CLUB: Tuesday & Thursday nights - 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. We do arts and crafts, play games, listen to music and have fun.

YOUTH CLINIC: Monday & Wednesday - 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

C-CARD: Every day - 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. & Tuesday, Thursday evening - 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. This service enables young people 14+ to obtain information, support and free condoms.

CAPPA: Peer Education training young people to give drug and alcohol education to their friends.

PARENTING CLASS: Support for new mums.

ARTS AND CRAFT: 16+ making a mural for our local hall joint project with young people from our local ARC and regular users to The Hut.

TUESDAY CREW: 16+ Female domineered group where young people can chill out, make C.V.'s, practise their theory Driving Test, make appointment to see a beautician. Young people led their time.

New Groups To Start

BREAST-FEEDING CLASS: support for new mums on breast-feeding their babies.

ACCESS TO WORK: Support for young people to get their driving license to help gain employment.

JUNIOR SPACE: (Gingerbread) This group is to be set up for teenage mums to enable them to go back to education, employment or just to meet other mums for a chat, support and company.

GINGERBREAD: support for lone parents.
