Want to do something completely different...?
Here are just some of the things you can get involved in:
- YSEG
(Youth Strategy Executive Group)
Q. What do you get out of being involved?
A. Get your voices heard!
Express your views!
Meet new people
Making
a difference and improving young people’s lives
Learn new skills
Training – good for your C.V.
Make informed decisions and choices
Talk to councillors about issues that concern you
And most importantly – HAVING
FUN!!
- YOUTHBANK ASSESSORS
Q. What does a youthbank assessor
do?
A. YouthBank assessors can turn young people’s good ideas into
action by: Assessing funding applications from youth projects across
Dumfries and Galloway, making a site visit and meeting the young people
involved. YOU make the final decisions on funding these projects!
- PEER
INSPECTIONS
Q. What does this involve? A. Peer inspections provides you
with the chance to check out and improve Services for young people! Why
not become an inspector and check out youth clubs, libraries, sports
centres and other services to help them become what you want them to
be!
- ACTION RESEARCH
Q. How does this work?
A. By getting involved
in Action Research you have the opportunity to do more than just talking,
you can actually change things!
So do you have any issues or concerns,
and know that other young people feel the same?
Then why not get involved
in Action Research and get something done about it!!!!
The above is just
an example of some of the things you can get involved through the Youth
Issues Unit. We also have links with the Scottish Youth Parliament (two
of our current SYP members are from the Wigtownshire area), and meetings
are held four times a year across Scotland. It’s a great opportunity
to meet new people, express your views, and represent the concerns and
issues of other young people in your area.
So if you want to get involved
in any of the above, or even if you just want to find out a little bit
more, then please get in touch!! You can do this by contacting me, Rhona,
on the details below.
